Khyentse library of College of Language and Culture Studies (CLCS) is administered by a Library Incharge and four library staff. The library came into existence on the 16th of July 1961 at WangdiTse, in Thimphu along with Rigney Lobdra, established by His Holiness the late DilgoKhentse Rinpoche, and was shifted to Taktse under Trongsa District in the year 2011. It is structured with four stored building comprises of library office, circulation desk, library main collection, short-term loan corner, references room, work station, journal corner, traditional room, processing room, silent study room and store.
Khyentse library provides all users with a welcoming, comfortable, and safe environment. Library is facilitated with internet and Wi-Fi connections. Library also has webpage associated with KOHA (Integrated Library Management System), EBSCO, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), and Druk journal to access online journals. To access KOHA, login with http://library.clcs.edu.bt/ and enter Student ID & Default numbers, to search the online catalogue and to renew holding books.
The Khyentse Library is kept open from 8:00 am till 7:00 pm on week days. On Saturday it is kept open from 9:00 AM to 1:00PM and remains closed on government holidays and on Sundays (time will change as per users).
Each user is issued a library card for circulation.Faculty can borrow seven books at a time and staff can borrow five books for a month which is renewable for another month.Students too can borrow five different titled books for ten days and is renewable for another thirty days. The loan periods for Short-Term Loans (STL) are for seven days and CDs/DVDs are loaned for a day. However, reference materials, special collections, and equipment are not available for proper checkouts or authorizations.
Regarding overdue fine charged Nu. 10.00 per day for faculty and staff for each book. Whereas Nu. 5.00 per day for students. However, damaged, lost, or non-returned penalties is that, lost library items must be reported immediately. Either replace the same book or pay the purchased price plus a processing fee of Nu. 50.00 that includes transportation, barcode, 3M magnetic strip, and processing charge. The main aim of our library is to let new users to identify the facilities and services provided by the Khyentse Library and also the problems that we faced. The library act as a heart and core source of information and knowledge for the faculties, staff, and students. For that reason we in turn expect from every users to use library facilities and services effectively and efficiently.Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) provides the facility for searching and browsing physical materials available in the library. Users can log in, check status of the issued books, make purchase suggestion etc. You can browse for items on the catalogue by title, author, subject, ISBN, Call number, year or keywords:
